Subject: CSU SWAT-II Survey --> Directors of Academic Technology: ACTION REQUESTED (Sat 4/24)

DAT'ers,

As referenced at the April 9 meeting hosted by CSU Long Beach, there were two specific Action Items that are SWAT-II deliverables. The information requested below is directly aligned with other CSU initiatives and will be utilized in multiple venues, in addition to identifying communication channels (vital to future activities).

ACTION REQUESTED: use the attached spreadsheet and enter your campus data - the “contracts” tab is due by June 1, 2004 and the “ADA” tab by June 15, 2004.

Action Item #1 (Item 6.1 on DAT Agenda – April 9, 2004) Inventory existing academic technology contracts/services/contacts; aligned with CSU Contracts and Procurement Services efforts, cost savings, etc.

NOTE: the assumption and screening factor for responses are all centralized academic technology contracts/services valued at greater than $5,000 (whether procured or donated). The focus is software centric and, where applicable, include support services, training, etc. Where information is available for non-centralized academic technology contracts/services, these should be included. Grant funded software should not be included, unless there is a large-scale campus impact (e.g. affects greater than 1,000 students, multiple disciplines, greater than 20 faculty).

Action Item #2 (Item 6.2 on DAT Agenda – April 9, 2004) ADA and assistive technology “affinity groups”: identify campus contacts, catalog of services, resources, partnerships, venues, models, etc.

We recognize that there will be updates to campus submissions in the future. At this juncture, we're seeking "best effort" to get sensible data and communication contacts identified for pending Spring/Summer CSU system-wide activities.

Thanks in advance for your timely efforts of data collection and outreach to campus constituents. Please contact us directly with any questions or clarifications that you have, to ensure the above deadlines are met.

Additional SWAT-II materials are available at the interim SWAT-II Web site at http://its.calpoly.edu/plans_projects/SWAT-II/. The official Web site, http://swat.calstate.edu, will be live in early May.

Sincerely,

Craig Schultz - SWAT-II Lead
